Wallace, N.C.- The Brevard College men's golf team rode the 5th-place individual finish of sophomore Kim Koivu to finish 5th in a field of 12 teams over the weekend at the UNCP/Campbell Oil Classic, held at the River Landing Country Club on Friday and Saturday.
Brevard (+51) topped No. 22 Coker College and fellow SAC member Catawba College in what was the Tornados strongest field of competition this spring.
Koivu carded a 223 (+7) to finish in the top five for the third time this spring after winning the Pfeiffer University Golf Tournament and taking 5th at the Barton Intercollegiate.
BC freshman Johan Nordahl finished 15th overall (+12) after shooting a pair of 74's on day one for his best back-to-back rounds of the year.
The Tornados will now prepare for the South Atlantic Conference golf tournament, held April 14th-16th in Sevierville, Tennessee.
