JACKSON, Miss. - Zander Winston finished just one shot behind the leader Tuesday afternoon, tying for second at the Millsaps Collegiate, leading Centenary to a second-place finish to wrap up fall play.
The Gents wrap up the tournament with their best finish of the year and second-best team score (622). Winston fired an opening-round 69 (3-under-par), his best round of the year, to share the lead after day one with Millsaps' Ryan Henry. Lewis Peters (Millsaps) was only three strokes back and closed with a 69 while Winston and Hendry posted 73s to fall one stroke behind Peters, the individual champion. Peters, Henry and Winston were the only three golfers under par.
Millsaps (293-295 - 588) also wrapped up the team title, finishing 34 strokes ahead of Centenary (313-309 - 622).
Centenary's Jamie Gibson grabbed a top-10 finish in seventh place (9-over-par), after knocking off a stroke from his opening-day 77. Hank Strickler finished 27th in the 63-man field despite a first-round 87. He shaved 12 strokes to climb the leader board with a closing 75.
Andres Forese (82-85-167) and Arni Sigurdson (85-87 - 172) rounded out the Gents scoring.
