The Ladies (2-8, 1-1 SCAC) lost at home to the LeTourneau University YellowJackets by a score of 79-66 last Friday while the War Hawks (8-2, 2-0 SCAC) defeated the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor 62-60 in a non-conference game on Saturday at home.
Centenary is 2-4 on the road this season while McMurry is 4-0 at home. McMurry defeated Centenary 85-49 last season in Shreveport in the lone meeting between the teams as the War Hawks joined the conference prior to last season. McMurry leads the all-time series, 4-2.
The Ladies have split with LeTourneau in league play, winning 55-50 over the YellowJackets last month in Longview, Texas before last Friday's home loss while the War Hawks have two wins over Schreiner University to start league play.
Ladies' Season Individual Statistical Leaders:
Scoring: Senior G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.) – 8.6 PPG
Rebounding: Senior F Kyra Stokes (Shreveport, La.) – 6.2 RPG
Assists: Sophomore G Nevaeh Rivera (Rosepine, La.) – 2.2/game
Blocks: Stokes – 1.0/game
Steals: Rivera – 2.1/game
The Ladies average 53.2 PPG, shoot 32.5 % from the floor, 25.5 % from 3-point range, and 66.2 % from the free-throw line while averaging 35.5 rebounds/game, 10.4 assists/game, 10.6 steals/game, and 2.7 blocks/game.
Senior F Layla Powell (Fort Worth, Texas) averages 6.2 PPG, sophomore G Alexis Duhon (Westlake, La.) averages 5.6 PPG, Rivera averages 4.5, sophomore G Julissa Cabrera (Denham Springs, La.) is averaging 4.4 PPG, and freshman F Emily Cortez (Thibodaux, La.) is at 3.6 PPG.
Centenary was picked to finish 12th in the conference this season in the SCAC preseason poll while McMurry was predicted to finish fourth and picked up one first-place vote. The top six teams in the conference will qualify for the SCAC Women's Basketball Tournament, which will be held February 27 through March 1 and hosted by Hendrix College in Conway, Ark. The winner of that event will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Ladies will wrap up the weekend at Schreiner on Sunday (2 PM) in Kerrville, Texas.
