Due West, S.C. - The Brevard College Tornados set a school record for digs in a four set match with 94 against Erskine College on Wednesday night. The Tornados fell to the Flying Fleet in four sets, 25-22, 25-27, 25-20, 26-24.
The Tornados smashed the standing record of 86 digs in a four-set match, set against Mars Hill on October 26th, 2007.
Kayla Hanus came close to the Brevard College record for assists in a four-set match. The junior recorded 46 assists, just eight shy of Jami Perry's mark from the aforementioned match against Mars Hill in 2007. Hanus also pitched in 21 digs.
Freshman Fatima Gharachorloo led the Tornados with 23 kills on 71 total attempts, also contributing 13 digs. BC libero Sydney Yeomans steered the Tornados with 25 digs.
Erskine's Lauren Stewart contributed a team-high 15 kills with a .389 hitting percentage to help the Flying Fleet improve to 10-8 on the season.
The Tornados look to rebound on Friday evening, October 12 as they travel to Anderson University in South Carolina at 7:00 pm.
