Whiting, a junior right-hander delivered a magnificent performance on Saturday in Game 1 of a four-game set with the Tigers as he earned his first win of the season.
The Oakdale, Calif. native, tossed an eight-inning gem, allowing five hits, no runs and no walks while fanning seven. He held Grambling to a .172 batting clip through eight complete frames.
On the season, Whiting owns a 1.42 ERA with a 1-0 record in two starts. Through 12.2 innings, he has given up just eight hits, two earned runs and one walk to accompany his team-best 11 strikeouts.
Centenary will take on Northwestern State at 6:30 pm on Wednesday in Natchitoches, La.
