The Gents enter the mid-week game after a postponement of its Summit League series with Western Illinois. Centenary holds an overall record of 22-18 and is 7-11 on the road this season.
Leading the way offensively for the Gents is senior Cliff Shepard with a .368 average and a team-best 57 hits, 18 doubles, and 36 RBI. Junior Keegan Acker is hitting a solid .350 and leads the team with 15 stolen bases and 27 walks, while classmate Alex Todd's .324 is third-best of the squad, along with his 46 hits and 11 doubles.
Right-hander Boone Whiting paces the Gents pitching staff with a 5-1 record and a team-low 3.38 ERA. Out of the pen this season, lefty Dakota Robinson has garnered a 3-1 record and a 3.50 ERA, while southpaw Stephen Tromblee is 2-3 with a 5.59 ERA and a team-high five saves.
Texas A&M meets Houston on Tuesday evening before hosting Centenary on Wednesday. The Aggies have a 28-18 overall record and are 22-10 at Olsen Field.
Brodie Green paces the offense with a .365 clip, 70 hits and seven home runs, while Joe Patterson and Caleb Shofner are hitting .356 and .341, respectively. On the bump, John Stilson is 6-1 with eight saves and a 0.98 ERA out of the pen. Barret Loux is 8-2 with a 2.30 ERA and Michael Wacha is 5-3 with a 2.47 ERA.
Centenary and Texas A&M will meet for the third time in just two seasons as the Gents played the Aggies in College Station last season, splitting the two games when Texas A&M held the #1 mark in the country.
The last time these two teams met was on February 25, 2009 in an 8-4 win for the Gents as seniors Michael Tompkins, Shepard and Tell Ross combined for six of Centenary's 15 hits.
Following the mid-week contest against Texas A&M, the Gents will host Summit League foe, Oral Roberts in a four-game set this weekend.
