ATLANTA, Ga. �- The Centenary softball team came up with the big hits in its second game at the Buzz Classic �- defeating Kennesaw State 8-5 on Friday evening.
Freshmen Lindsey Smith and Katie Matthews combined to go 5-for-8 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Junior Haley Bassett also had a nice night at the plate, as she went 1-for-4 with an RBI, while scoring twice.
Scoring the winning run for Centenary was senior Leslie Postles, who stole home in the fifth inning.
Freshman Hillary Phillips started the game, but got a no decision after pitching 3.1 innings and allowing four runs. Getting the win for the Ladies was sophomore Jessica Bock, who went 3.2 innings, scattered four hits, allowed one run and struck out three.
