ATLANTA, Ga. - Two RBIs by junior Allison Shepperd and a four run sixth inning helped push the Centenary softball team to a 5-3 victory over Toledo on the final day of the Georgia Tech Buzz Classic Sunday.
The Ladies spotted Toledo a 3-1 lead through five and a half, but Centenary answered back with its four run inning. The Ladies reached base with three hits and three errors in that frame -- with the only RBI coming from Shepperd.
In the circle for Centenary, sophomore Jessica Bock went 6.1 innings, gave up seven hits, allowed three runs, walked two and struck out one. Freshman Hillary Phillips picked up the save after pitching the last two-thirds of the top of the seventh.
After the game, Shepperd was named to the all-tournament team after hitting .467 with a double, two home runs and seven RBIs. Centenary also completed the Buzz Classic with a 4-1 record.
On Wednesday evening the Ladies will travel an hour south on I-49 to play Northwestern State at 5:30 p.m.
