The Ladies (1-5-1) blanked the Millsaps College Majors 1-0 in a non-conference contest on Friday evening at home as the Ladies recorded their first victory of the season thanks to a late goal from senior D/MF Kylie Zeller (Denham Springs, La.).
The Tigers (3-1-3) defeated the University of Ozarks Eagles 4-0 at home on Saturday and enter Tuesday's contest 1-0-1 on the road this season. The Tigers lost their season opener to nationally-ranked University of Chicago on Aug. 29 but have not lost since, as they are 3-0-3.
Centenary, 1-4-1 at home this season, has enjoyed the friendly confines of Atkins Field since Aug. 29 when its homestand began with a 4-0 loss to Howard Payne University. The Ladies and Tigers met last season in Marshall, Texas as ETBU recorded a 3-0 shutout win.
The Ladies were locked in a scoreless battle with Millsaps on Friday until deep in the second half when Zeller rifled a laser into the back of the net in the 81st minute for a 1-0 lead. The goal was Zeller's second of the season, sixth of her career, and second-career game-winning goal.
Freshman F/MF Morgan Stancliff (Pensacola, Fla.) and the Ladies' defense pitched a shutout, their first of the season, as Stancliff made her second start of the season and tallied seven saves in her 90 minutes.
Zeller and senior MF Aubrey Burkhardt (Bossier City, La.) share the team lead in goals with two each and points (4) and senior D Madi Cooley (Natchez, Miss.) and sophomore F/MF Jenevieve Willis (Bossier City, La.) are tied for the team lead in assists with one each.
Freshman GK Gracie Rellin (Haughton, La.) started the first five matches of the season and is the conference leader in saves (31) while Stancliff's 16 rank eighth.
