Ladies Earn Scoreless Draw Versus Crusaders
The Centenary women's soccer team earned a hard-fought scoreless draw against the visiting University of Dallas Crusaders on Sunday afternoon in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Atkins Field.
Shreveport - The Centenary women's soccer team earned a hard-fought scoreless draw against the visiting University of Dallas Crusaders on Sunday afternoon in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Atkins Field.
The Ladies (1-8-2, 0-2-1 SCAC) snapped their three-match losing streak and are now 1-5-2 at home this season. The Crusaders (3-6-1, 2-1-1 SCAC) are now 0-3-1 on the road this season. Dallas now leads the very competitive all-time series with Centenary, 11-10-1.
Freshman Morgan Stancliff (Pensacola, Fla.) notched her second shutout of the season and made a pair of saves in her 90 minutes on Sunday. Dallas GK Ella Charles also went the distance in goal and recorded four saves.
The aggressive Ladies out-shot the Crusaders 18-6 and took five corner kicks to Dallas' one, but they could not get on the scoreboard. The Ladies' 18 shots are their second-most in a match this season and fourth time they took 10 or more in a match.
The Ladies will return to action next Friday with a conference match at LeTourneau University (5-5-1, 0-4 SCAC) set for 5 PM in Longview, Texas.
