Ladies Blanked 2-0 At Schreiner On Sunday
The Centenary women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the Schreiner University Mountaineers on Sunday afternoon in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Mountaineer Soccer Field.
Kerrville, Texas- The Centenary women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the Schreiner University Mountaineers on Sunday afternoon in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Mountaineer Soccer Field.
The Ladies (1-8-1, 0-2-0 SCAC) fell 6-1 to the McMurry University War Hawks on Friday in their league opener in Abilene, Texas. Schreiner (3-4-1, 1-1 SCAC) rebounded from a 2-1 loss on Friday to the University of St. Thomas Celts to even their league mark with Sunday's victory. Centenary is now 0-3 on the road this season while Schreiner improved to 2-2 at home and beat the Ladies for the fifth-straight time in the series.
Freshman Morgan Stancliff (Pensacola, Fla.) played all 90 minutes and made a pair of saves while Schreiner GK Emilie Novasad also went the distance and did not record a save.
Aspen Ulibarri's goal in the 14th minute, assisted by Jess Sinclair, made it 1-0 and the Mountaineers held that lead at halftime and until the 53rd minute when Megan Chandonia found the net for an unassisted goal and a 2-0 lead.
Schreiner finished with a 6-0 edge in shots, took two corner kicks to Centenary's one, and there were 12 fouls in the match- eight whistled on the Ladies and four on the Mountaineers.
The Ladies will return to action next Sunday at home with another SCAC contest against the University of Dallas Crusaders (3-4-0, 2-0-0 SCAC) set for NOON at Atkins Field.
