Ladies Fall To 'Roos 1-0 On Sunday

Shreveport- The Centenary women's soccer team hung tough with the Austin College 'Roos before falling 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Atkins Field.
The Ladies (1-10-2, 0-4-1 SCAC) are now 1-6-2 at home and were blanked for the eighth time this season. The 'Roos improved to 5-4-2 overall and 2-3-1 in league play and are now 3-1-1 on the road this season.
Freshman Morgan Stancliff (Pensacola, Fla.) played all 90 minutes in the net for the Ladies and made six saves. Kieran McFarland also went the distance for the 'Roos, recording her third shutout of the season, and had four saves.
Emeri Watson scored in the sixth minute, assisted by Laney Lambert, to give the visitors the early lead and McFarland and the Austin College defense made that lead stand en route the shutout win.
The 'Roos finished with a slight edge (14-12) in shots, took six corner kicks to the Ladies' one, and 14 fouls were whistled in the match – eight on the 'Roos and six on the Ladies.
Centenary remains at home next weekend for a pair of league matches, facing the University of the Ozarks Eagles on Friday (5 PM) and Hendrix College on Sunday (NOON). The Ladies will honor their senior class before Friday's match.
