Ladies Fall 6-1 At McMurry In SCAC Opener
The Centenary women's soccer team fell 6-1 to the McMurry University War Hawks in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Friday evening inside Wilford Moore Stadium.

Abilene, Texas- The Centenary women's soccer team fell 6-1 to the McMurry University War Hawks in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Friday evening inside Wilford Moore Stadium.
The Ladies (1-7-1, 0-1-0 SCAC) dropped to 0-2 on the road this season while the War Hawks improved to 3-3-1 and 1-0-0 in conference play and evened their home record to 1-1.
McMurry scored a pair of first-half goals to lead 2-0 at halftime and outscored Centenary 4-1 in the second half to cruise to the win. Alexis Lira's PK in the 25th minute and Madison Black's goal in the 41st minute, assisted by Haylie Blakley, made it 2-0.
Black scored again in the 55th minute with the assist credited to Hailey Donaldson, for a 3-0 lead, but freshman MF Kaitlin Sprey (New Braunfels, Texas) got the Ladies on the board with her first-career goal, an unassisted score, in the 64th minute.
The War Hawks added a trio of late goals to seal the victory as Hailey Graham scored an unassisted goal in the 69th minute, Cameryn Peter found the net in the 73rd minute assisted by Ava Camp, and Charley Goff scored in the 80th minute as Camp assisted again.
McMurry finished with a decisive 16-2 advantage in shots, 12-2 in shots on goal, and took 13 corner kicks while the Ladies did not attempt one. The teams were whistled for 13 fouls – seven on the Ladies and six on the War Hawks.
Freshman F/MF Morgan Stancliff (Pensacola, Fla.) played all 90 minutes and made six saves while McMurry played three goalkeepers. Avery Anders started and played the first 68:44 and made one save, Jackie Santos replaced her and played 11 minutes, and Cadence Foulkrod subbed in for Santos for the final 10:16.
The Ladies will face the Schreiner University Mountaineers on Sunday at NOON in Kerrville, Texas.
