LOWREY LAIN OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior forward/midfielder on the women's soccer team from Haughton, La., has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning December 1.
LOWREY LAIN OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior forward/midfielder on the women's soccer team from Haughton, La., has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning December 1.
The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.
Senior MF/F Lowrey Lain (Haughton, La.) has played in 50 matches with 31 starts in her career for the Ladies, contributing with two goals scored and one assist for five total points. Those numbers alone are impressive but add to that the fact that she is a campus Ambassador, member of the Dean's List, two-time member of the SCAC Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll shows you just how outstanding she is.
An AP Scholar in high school who was also named Valedictorian, Lowrey was named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team last week, and is "the kind of student-athlete every coach wishes they could clone," said head coach Morgan Dorsey.
"She gives 150% every time she steps onto the field," continued Dorsey. "Lowrey lifts the people around her, and shows up each day with an attitude that makes our entire program better. Her selflessness is evident and speaks volumes about her character as she'd truly give the shirt off her back to anyone. Lowrey is not only an incredible player, but an exceptional teammate and an even better human being."
"Centenary gave me the opportunity to play soccer and once I visited the campus, I fell in love with small, homey atmosphere," said Lain.
"Centenary also has a strong Biology department that has prepared me for Nursing."
"Some of my favorite things about Centenary are the people that I have met. I also love my small class sizes and how close you become with your professors. All of my professors know me by name and what sport I play, and are always willing to help me with anything. I also enjoy getting to be an Ambassador on campus and meet future students, and tell them about the school I love."
