The Gents (2-2-2) rebounded from a disappointing 4-2 loss at Hardin-Simmons University on Thursday evening in Abilene, Texas as they recorded their second tie of the young season. T
Junior F Carter Webb (Flower Mound, Texas) scored the first goal of the match against the Yellow Jackets in the 24th minute to give the Gents a 1-0 lead. Junior MF Jacob Ramsey (Baton Rouge, La.) assisted as Webb and Ramsey connected for the second-consecutive match after doing so against Hardin-Simmons on Thursday.
Centenary took the 1-0 lead into halftime and then Howard Payne then scored the next two goals, but the Gents would not be denied as Ramsey found the net less than a minute later to knot the match at 2-2. The goal was Ramsey's first in his career and with his assist, he now leads the team this season with three. Senior GK Sam Brocato (Leesville, La.) played all 90 minutes and made five saves.
Senior MF Brandon Guevara (Henderson, Texas) scored his first-career goal last Thursday at Hardin-Simmons just over 14 minutes into the match for a 1-0 lead and Webb and Ramsey connected for the Gents' second goal. Brocato played all 90 minutes and made four saves. He entered the match in a tie for third nationally in division III in shutouts (three) to lead the conference and was top-25 nationally in saves and in the top 100 nationally in save percentage.
The Gents will return to action next Saturday with another non-conference contest versus the East Texas Baptist University Tigers at 7:30 PM in Marshall, Texas.
