Gents Set To Face Bulldogs In Key SCAC Contest On Friday Night

The Gents (7-6-2, 5-3 SCAC) enter Friday's action winners of four of their last five matches and are in the mix for a berth into next month's SCAC Soccer Tournament with just three regular season matches remaining. The Bulldogs are currently atop the conference standings 8-4-2 overall and 6-1-1 in league play.
The Gents' five conference wins are the most in a single season since joining the SCAC prior to the 2012 season and they are currently alone in fifth place in the conference standings.
Centenary, 2-4-1 on the road this season, will play away from home for the first time since edging LeTourneau University, 2-1, on Oct. 10 in Longview, Texas. That win was the second in a season-best four-match winning streak that was snapped on Sunday as the Gents were blanked 3-0 by Hendrix College at home- Centenary's first loss since falling 3-1 to Colorado College at home on Oct. 3.
The Gents, lead the conference in both goals (34) and points (88) and are tied for third in assists (20) and have outscored their last four opponents 15-5. The Bulldogs are also strong offensively as they rank in the top three in the league in assists (20), goals (23), and points (66). Centenary leads the league in goals per game (2.27) and are tied for 53rd nationally in goals scored and tied for 75th in points.
Junior MF Jacob Ramsey (Baton Rouge, La.) is in the midst of a superb season as he is tied for first in the conference in assists (5), tied for sixth in points (13), and is tied for 10th in the league in goals (4). Ramsey shares the team lead in goals with junior F Carter Webb (Flower Mound, Texas).
Senior F Gabriel Aragon (Forney, Texas) and junior D Aidan Miller (Keller, Texas) are next with three goals each and five players each have two goals – senior F Connor Buche (College Station, Texas), junior D Lochlan Scott (Glasgow, Scotland), sophomore MF Angel Montoya (Kyle, Texas), junior F Fernando Santos (Bridgeport, Texas), senior MF Brandon Guevara (Henderson, Texas), junior D Hayden McConnell (Flower Mound, Texas) , and junior D Dylan Clark (Allen, Texas). Scott, freshman D/MF Bevan Flanagan (Murphy, Texas), and freshman MF Marco Peterson (Bedford, Texas) are tied for second on the team in assists with two each and nine players have one assist.
Senior GK Casey Clemo (Forney, Texas) has started seven matches for the Gents and ranks in the top 10 in the league in both saves and GAA and senior GK Sam Brocato (Leesville, La.) has made eight starts and is also top 10 in the league in saves. The Gents have recorded five shutouts this season, with Brocato tallying three and Clemo two.
The 2025 SCAC Men's Soccer Tournament returns to a six-team format for the first time since the 2020-21 COVID-19 shortened season. The tournament will be held the first week of November at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas. Quarterfinal matches will be contested on Thursday, Nov. 6, the semifinal matches on Friday, Nov. 7 and the championship match will be played Sunday, Nov. 9.
The Gents, picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll, have accumulated 15 points, and their five wins are tied for the second-most in the league with Hendrix (5-2-1) and Colorado College (5-0-3).
The Gents will wrap up the weekend with their home finale on Sunday versus Concordia University at 2 PM.
