Gents Eyeing Conference Tournament Berth In Regular-Season Finale
The Centenary men's soccer team enters its final match of the regular season with a conference tournament berth on the line on Saturday as the Gents are set to face the University of St. Thomas Celts in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match set for 7:30 PM at Sabercats Stadium.

The Gents (7-8-2, 5-5 SCAC) are currently sixth in the conference standings and have accumulated 15 points. The Celts (8-6-1, 4-5-1 SCAC) are tied for eighth place and have been eliminated from tournament contention. Centenary must win on Saturday to clinch a tournament berth as either a tie or loss eliminates them.
Centenary, which has lost its last three matches, is 2-5-1 on the road this season. The Celts, which has dropped their last two matches, are 5-2-1 at home this season. The Gents lost a pair of matches last weekend, on Friday at Texas Lutheran University (3-0) and in their home finale on Sunday to Concordia University, 3-1. Centenary led 1-0 at halftime but Concordia scored three times in the second half to record the comeback win.
The Celts lead the all-time series with the Gents, 6-0-1. St. Thomas edged Centenary 2-1 last season in Shreveport. The lone tie in the series came on April 25, 2021 when the teams tied at 0-0 in two overtimes in the SCAC Tournament and the Gents advanced on PK's.
The Gents enter Saturday's match as one of the conference's top offensive teams, ranking second in goals (35) and points (91) and tied for fourth in assists (21). Centenary is second in the conference in goals per game (2.06) and are tied for 85th nationally in goals scored and tied for 104th in points.
Junior F Carter Webb (Flower Mound, Texas) leads the team in goals (5) which ranks in the top 10 in the conference and he is second on the team in points (10). Three of Webb's five goals this season have come in conference play.
Junior MF Jacob Ramsey (Baton Rouge, La.) is the team leader in assists (5) and points (13) and is second in goals (4). He is tied for third in the conference in assists and ranks in the top 10 in points. Three of his goals and two of assists have come in conference matches.
Senior F Gabriel Aragon (Forney, Texas) and junior D Aidan Miller (Keller, Texas) are next with three goals each and seven players each have two goals – senior F Connor Buche (College Station, Texas), junior D Lochlan Scott (Glasgow, Scotland), sophomore MF Angel Montoya (Kyle, Texas), junior F Fernando Santos (Bridgeport, Texas), senior MF Brandon Guevara (Henderson, Texas), junior D Hayden McConnell (Flower Mound, Texas) , and junior D Dylan Clark (Allen, Texas).
Scott, freshman D/MF Bevan Flanagan (Murphy, Texas), and freshman MF Marco Peterson (Bedford, Texas) are tied for second on the team in assists with two each, 10 players have one assist, and six players have scored one goal
Senior GK Casey Clemo (Forney, Texas) has started nine matches for the Gents and ranks sixth in the conference in saves (46) and seventh in GAA (1.71). Senior GK Sam Brocato (Leesville, La.) has made eight starts and 11 appearances and has 43 saves and a 2.24 GAA. Brocato has recorded three shutouts and Clemo has pitched two.
Jovany Garcia leads the Celts in goals (4) and points (10) and Brandon Delaney leads in assists (4). Six UST players have scored two or more goals and three have two or more assists. Jorge Gonzalez has made 13 appearances and 12 starts in the net for the Celts and has 35 saves, recorded three shutouts, and posted a 1.14 GAA.
The 2025 SCAC Men's Soccer Tournament returns to a six-team format for the first time since the 2020-21 COVID-19 shortened season. The tournament will be held next weekend at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock, Texas. Quarterfinal matches will be contested on Thursday, Nov. 6, the semifinal matches on Friday, Nov. 7 and the championship match will be played Sunday, Nov. 9.
