Shreveport - The Centenary men's soccer team allowed a pair of late goals to the visiting Concordia University Tornados on Sunday afternoon that broke a 1-1 tie as the Gents fell 3-1 in their home finale in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play at Atkins Field.
The Gents (7-8-2, 5-5 SCAC) led 1-0 at halftime following a beautifully-executed play early in the match which resulted in a goal. Junior MF Jacob Ramsey (Baton Rouge, La.) threw the ball into junior D Hayden McConnell (Flower Mound, Texas) who headed it to the left corner of the net and junior F Carter Webb (Flower Mound, Texas) knocked it into the goal at the 9:34 mark. The goal was Webb's team-leading fifth and the assist was McConnell's first of the season.
The Tornados (9-3-4, 6-1-3 SCAC) tied the score at 1-1 in the 57th minute as Mark Wilson received a pass from Jesse Garfias and fired a shot which was saved by senior GK Casey Clemo (Forney, Texas), but the ball deflected to Alejandro Rojas who quickly passed to Wilson for the tying score and his first goal of the season.
Clemo was injured on the play and was replaced by senior GK Sam Brocato (Leesville, La.) who played the remainder of the match. Clemo made four saves and Brocato tallied two. Leonel Cuellar went the distance in goal for the Tornados and made one save.
Bryan Rios put the Tornados ahead 2-1 in the 85th minute, his sixth goal of the season as he was assisted by Tyler Kenny. Andres Munoz added a goal, his first of the season, just over a minute later with Garfias tallying his second assist of the match.
