Gents Blanked 5-0 At ETBU
The Centenary men's soccer team was blanked 5-0 by the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in a non-conference contest on Saturday evening at Cornish Soccer Field.

Marshall, Texas. – The Centenary men's soccer team was blanked 5-0 by the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in a non-conference contest on Saturday evening at Cornish Soccer Field.
The Gents (2-3-2) dropped to 0-3-1 on the road this season while the Tigers (5-3-0) improved to 4-2 at home. The Gents are in the midst of their longest roadtrip of the season which consists of five matches. The Gents still lead the all-time series 5-3-3.
Senior GK Casey Clemo (Forney, Texas) made his first start of the season in goal for the Gents and played the first half, allowing two goals and recording five saves. Senior GK Sam Brocato (Leesville, La.) played the second half as he allowed three goals and made three saves. Ryan Lord went the distance in the net for the Tigers and made five saves.
ETBU took a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute on a goal by Junior Lopez, assisted by Aiden Fortenberry. Bryan Escalera then scored an unassisted goal in the 29th minute for a 2-0 lead. Lucas Arreguin's goal in the 49th minute, assisted by Lars Clark, made it 3-0.
Arreguin scored again in the 63rd minute, with Fortenberry assisting, for 4-0 lead. Dawson Lopez capped the scoring in the 84th minute with double assists credited to Gavin Sotelo & Jose Gomez to make it 5-0. The Tigers finished with a 21-6 advantage on shots, 9-3 in corner kicks, and the Tigers were whistled for eight fouls to the Gents' seven.
The Gents now turn their attention to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play as they will face the McMurry University War Hawks on Friday, Sept. 26 in Abilene, Texas.
