ANDERSON, S.C. - Brevard improved by three strokes as a team during the final round of play at the Anderson University Invitational at Cobb's Glen Country Club on Tuesday, finishing seventh in team competition.
The Tornados were led by newcomer Taylor Scovel, who improved upon her Monday score by four strokes on the way to a 30th-place finish. Kelsie Rhyne was close behind, tying Scovel for the lowest round on the team and finishing one stroke behind her in 33rd place.
Courtney Sharp and Maddie Lutz rounded out the Tornado contingent, shooting a 186 and 204 at the two-day event.
South Atlantic Conference opponent Lincoln Memorial won the event with a two-day score of 638, finishing 14 strokes ahead of second-place Anderson. Lenoir-Rhyne, Erskine, and Emmanuel rounded out the top five in the eight-team event.
Brevard will next compete Monday and Tuesday as the Tornados host the Etowah Intercollegiate. The event will be played at Etowah Valley Country Club, approximately a 15-minute drive from Brevard's campus and site of the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Golf Championships.
