ETOWAH, N.C. - The opening day at the Etowah Intercollegiate, hosted by Brevard College, concluded Monday afternoon with Brevard sitting sixth out of eight after 18 holes with a 353 score.
The freshman duo of Taylor Scovel and Courtney Sharp led BC, as both shot 85 on the opening day to be tied for 18th overall.
Kelsie Rhyne finished the first day just outside of the top-20 with an 89 score, her best outing at the Etowah Intercollegiate. Joining Scovel and Sharp in their first competition at Etowah, Maddie Lutz shot a 93 to finish tied for 32nd overall.
Lincoln Memorial ended the day with the lowest score, shooting 311 as a unit. Fellow South Atlantic Conference school Queens sits second with a 322 score followed by North Greenville in third with a 333 tally. Brevard is fourth out of five SAC schools in the competition, as Coker is ahead of the Tornados by eight strokes while Mars Hill only trails by one. Arkansas-Monticello and Greensboro College fill out the field, currently fourth and eighth.
