MONROE, N.C. - Brevard continued play at the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship on Monday afternoon, finishing play in 11th place on the leaderboard heading into Tuesday's final round.
The Tornados shot a second-round 388, led by a 91 from Courtney Sharp. The freshman ended her day tied for 50th in the standings with Lenoir-Rhyne's Elizabeth Ewing. Both golfers have a two-day score of 176 heading into the final day of the 54-hole event.
Kelsie Rhyne sits eight strokes back of Sharp with a 184, tied for 54th overall. She fired a 98 on the second day of competition. Taylor Scovel is two strikes behind Rhyne in 57th overall and shot a 96 in the second round, the second-lowest score of the day for the Tornados. Kindle Kirkham and Maddie Lutz round out the Tornados' contingent in 58th and 59th place, respectively.
Newberry's Nabila Inak surged into the lead on Monday with a one-under 71, opening up a one-stroke lead over Grace Glaze of Queens at three over for the tournament. Carson-Newman's Taylor Hayes is three strokes out of the lead, while no other competitors are currently within seven strokes.
Queens currently holds a six-shot lead over Carson-Newman and is 12 strokes ahead of Newberry heading into Tuesday's final round. Live scoring will be available at this link, with teams set to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
