BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Centenary College women's golf team claimed a pair of top-11 finishes as it finished ninth at the Southern Showdown, hosted by Birmingham-Southern Sunday and Monday (October 4-5).
Centenary finished the tournament with a two-day total of 686. Rhodes claimed the team title with a 590, 24 strokes in the clear.
Leading the way for the Ladies was senior Jamie Wright, who rebounded from a 79 (+9) on day one to shoot the fifth-best round of the day (73, +3). She finished ninth with a 152 (+12) for the tournament.
"A little better teamwise than last week at Tyler, and improvement is always good," stated head coach Emlyn Aubrey. "Jessie Varner continued her solid play, while Jamie rebounded nicely after having to withdraw last week."
Fresh off a an All-Tournament finish last week, freshman Jessica Varner finished 11th with a two-day total of 153 (+13).
Rounding out the Maroon and White contingent, freshman Taylor Adair took 39th with a total of 175 (+35). Sophomores Toni Collaro and Haley Nidey finished 47th and 48th with scores of 211 (+71) and 213 (+73), respectively.
The Ladies wrap up fall play at the Abilene Intercollegiate in Abilene, Texas, October 26-27.
