LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - The recognitions keep rolling in for freshman Jessica Varner. Announced Wednesday, September 30, Varner earned Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week after her stellar play Monday and Tuesday at the par 72 Al Jones Memorial at the Eagles' Bluff Country Club in Bullard, Texas.
Varner carded a 78 (+6) and sat third on day one, en route to finishing with a two-day total of 160 (+16) to finish in a tie for fifth and earn All-Tournament honors.
"Jessica finished an outstanding fifth-place in her first ever tournament," explained head coach Emlyn Aubrey after play. "Even better for me is that she was not at all pleased with her performance. Needless to say, I am very excited to see what the future holds for this young lady!"
The Centenary Ladies golf team returns to action this weekend at the Southern Showdown, hosted by Birmingham Southern at the Highland Park Golf Club.
