CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Centenary women's golfer Jamie Wright was named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Women's Collegiate Golf All-American Scholars list for the 2014-2015 school year, announced Monday, July 6.
"Jamie is just the best a coach could ask for," head women's golf coach Emlyn Aubrey explained. "She is brilliant in the classroom, fantastic on the golf course, and the absolute best person anyone can know. I am really looking forward to her upcoming senior year but at the same time it will be bittersweet because I know she will be moving on."
To qualify for the All-American Scholar Team, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or greater. Wright, a history and political science major with a minor in religious studies, was one of only six athletes from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honored.
Founded in 1983, the WGCA is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The NGCA represents nearly 500 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members, and the student-athletes they represent.
