Belton, Texas - The Centenary men's basketball team fell 83-62 to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru in a non-conference contest on Tuesday evening inside the Mayborn Campus Center.
The Gents (0-5) and Cru (2-2) were tied at 36-36 at halftime, but UMHB outscored Centenary 47-26 in the second half to secure the victory.
"Nice job by UMHB tonight," said Centenary head coach J.A. Anglin. "They shot the ball really well from three. We gave up several 3's in defensive transition in the second half."
"I saw improvement from us on the offensive end in the first half. We took better shots and were able to control the game a little bit more in the first half. Our shot selection at times and turnovers throughout the game really hurt us. We cannot do that against a quality opponent on the road."
"We will all take some time regroup during the break and get back to it next Tuesday against a very good LeTourneau team."
Centenary shot 38.1 % (24-63) from the floor while UMHB finished 44.8 % (30-67). Both teams shot the ball well from beyond the arc as the Gents finished 12-35 and the Cru went 11-26.
