Gents Begin Conference Play At LeTourneau On Tuesday

The Gents (0-5) aim for their first win of the young season and are back on the court for the first time since an 83-62 loss to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru last Tuesday in Belton, Texas. Centenary is 0-2 on the road this season.
The YellowJackets (3-1) defeated Centre College 88-75 last Saturday in their most recent action. LeTourneau is 2-0 at the home this season. LeTourneau beat Centenary 98-87 in Shreveport last season and has won the last five games between the teams.
The Gents have played a tough pre-conference schedule with its other four losses coming to Berry College (77-55), Pfeiffer University (78-77), ETBU (73-67), and Arlington Baptist University (74-71).
The Gents are averaging 66.4 PPG as a team, shooting 39.8 % from the floor, 66.1 % from the FT line, and 24.6 % from beyond the arc. Centenary averages 36.2 rebounds/game and 9.2 assists/game. Centenary ranks in the top five in the conference in, blocked shots, defensive rebounds, scoring defense, FG % defense, and 3-point FG % defense.
Three Gents are averaging double figures - senior G Quentin Beverly (Katy, Texas) – 14.2 PPG, senior G Craig Collier (North Little Rock, Ark.) – 13.2 PPG, and sophomore G Nicholas Addison (Cedar Hill, Texas) – 10.4 PPG.
Freshman G Jaden Braden (Natchitoches, La.) is next at 9.0 PPG and freshman G/F Kane Broussard (Iowa, La.) is averaging 8.4 PPG. Addison (8.0/game) is the Gents' leading rebounder this season.
Beverly and Collier are both top 20 scorers in the conference and Addison is tied for 30th and is third in FG % (61.0 %), fifth in the league in rebounding and 13th in steals (1.8/game). Collier is tied for fourth in FT % (83.3) and Beverly is 10th in 3-point FG made (2.2/game). Freshman C Bryce Evans (Austin, Texas) is tied for fifth in the league in blocked shots (1.0/game) and Addison is 15th (0.6/game). Beverly ranks sixth in the conference in minutes played (32.8/game).
Centenary will play three non-conference regular-season contests this month – Dec. 9 at East Texas Baptist University, Dec. 12 at Howard Payne University, and Dec. 19 at home versus UMHB and an exhibition game at Grambling on Dec. 30 before returning to SCAC play with a rematch versus LeTourneau at home on Friday, Jan. 2.
