Gents Fall To Nationally-Ranked Celts In Regular-Season Finale

Houston - The Centenary men's basketball team lost its regular-season finale to the nationally-ranked University of St. Thomas Celts by a score of 75-63 on Sunday afternoon inside the Jerabeck Activity and Athletic center.
The Gents (10-15, 8-8 SCAC) now turn their attention to the postseason as they will have a rematch with the Colorado College Tigers next Friday, Feb. 27 in the opening game of the SCAC Tournament held at Hendrix College in Conway, Ark. The Celts, ranked No. 4 in the country in the current D3hoops.com national poll, improved to 23-1 overall and finished 15-0 in league play. St. Thomas extended its winning streak to 21 and finished 13-0 at home.
Centenary, which fell 81-62 to Colorado College on Friday night in Colorado Springs, Colo., finished 5-9 on the road. The Gents secured the No. 2 seed in the SCAC's Blue Division and Colorado College will be the Gold Division's No. 3 seed. The top six teams in the conference (top three in each division) will qualify for the event, which will be held Feb. 27 through March 1. The winner of that event will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
