Quentin Beverly Named SCAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
QUENTIN BEVERLY OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior guard from Katy, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, January 5 through Sunday, January 11.

Beverly had a monster and historic weekend for the Gents as he averaged 28.5 PPG in two games at McMurry and Schreiner and eclipsed 1,000 career points on Sunday with 27 against the Mountaineers. He led all scorers on Sunday after scoring 30 on Friday night in a 94-89 over McMurry and reached double figures for the 11th game in a row as he has scored 20+ points five times this season and now has four 30-point games in his career.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Asher Nofziger of Colorado College nearly averaged a double-double to lead the Tigers to a 2-0 weekend in league play against Austin College and the University of Dallas. After scoring 11 points and grabbing eight rebounds against Hardin-Simmons last Monday, The Denver native averaged 13.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game against the SCAC opponents. He tallied 18 points, nine boards, and three assists on Friday against the 'Roos, then recorded 12 points, 11 rebounds and three assists against the Crusaders. First-year Tremayne Martin of Concordia (Tex.) provided a spark off the bench in a 3-0 week for the Tornados. The first-year produced double-figure scoring in all three games, including a week-high 18 points and five steals in a 107-100 victory over TLU. He then added 11 points in three rebounds and two assists in a 129-54 win over Hendrix. In the 98-69 win over the Ozarks, Martin posted 14 points & six boards to cap off an efficient week. Senior Jackson Mayes of LeTourneau averaged 23.3 points -- shooting 51.7 percent from the field -- with 5.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. He had 30 points on 11-of-18 shooting with six rebounds, three assists, and one steal in an overtime win at McMurry. Mayes also posted 23 points against UMHB and totaled 17 with seven rebounds and two steals in a loss at Schreiner. First-year Eyal Shamri of Ozarks (Ark.) averaged 27 points while hitting seven threes over two road games. The first-year also averaged 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. Shamri opened the week hitting five three-pointers and scoring 34 points against Texas Lutheran and then followed up with a 20-point performance against Concordia (Tex.). Senior Angel Johnson of St. Thomas (Tex.) put together an efficient and well-rounded offensive weekend, playing a key role in two conference wins. He shot 61.5 percent from the field and was sharp from three-point range, hitting four of six attempts. Johnson also facilitated the offense with eight assists, consistently creating quality looks for teammates while limiting mistakes. Senior Mason Wallace of Texas Lutheran scored a career-high 30 points against Ozarks (Ark.) while grabbing six rebounds and dishing out four assists. With the 30-point performance, Wallace became the first Bulldog to hit the 30-point mark since Sebastian Andrade scored 38 points against Austin College on Feb. 29, 2020. It is his fourth game of 25 or more points this season as he averaged 22 points per game to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-1 week in conference play.
